We had a record turnout at this year's Warren School Harvest Luncheon. In fact, there were more adults than students at this annual event. Heartfelt thanks go to Mrs. Alisa Wright, who has orchestrated this event for the past 15 years.
The Harvest Luncheon is a celebration of the bounty of the school garden. Every spring, Mrs. Wright guides students as they plant seeds and then tend to the tiny shoots as they peep through the soil. During the summer, family volunteers visit to water the garden and harvest vegetables that are donated to the local food pantry. In September, classroom teachers, staff and students harvest the remaining vegetables, select recipes, and then cook or bake garden treats to share with everyone during the Harvest Luncheon.
The 6th grade students don the Warren School green aprons and serve the delicacies to the students and all of our guests. The 5th graders also had a special role this year, and greeted guests as they arrived. After the feast, students took our visitors on a tour of the newly renovated garden that now serves as an outdoor learning space as well as a garden.
Thank you to everyone who came to Warren School for our Harvest Luncheon this year.
